CONWELL’s mechanical cable lugs are manufactured from high-strength copper and aluminum alloys and feature shear-bolt technology, eliminating the need for crimping tools. They ensure tight, stable electrical contact, making them ideal for low-voltage switchgear, emergency repairs, renewable energy systems, and industrial electrical installations.
In power distribution and industrial systems, cable connections are critical for safety and performance. Traditional crimping lugs require specialized tools and skilled labor; improper handling can lead to poor contact, overheating, and failures. Mechanical lugs allow for quick and secure connections using only standard tools, making them suitable for time-sensitive projects and limited working conditions.
CONWELL’s shear-bolt lugs guarantee stable and secure contact between conductor and connector, minimizing contact resistance and heat buildup. Installation requires only a standard wrench, improving efficiency and reducing operational costs.

Emergency LV terminations used to wait on the crimping tool and the right die set. CONWELL shear-bolt lugs changed that—wrench only, bolt heads shear at the design torque, and the insert covers a wide mm² range. Contact resistance stayed stable on our copper and aluminum runs; we no longer see the hot-spot joints we had from under-crimps.
In the workshop we need repeatable terminations across 25–240 mm² without swapping presses for every job. CONWELL mechanical lugs with the tin-plated aluminum body and dual shear-head design give us one family for copper, aluminum, and mixed conductors. Assembly time per board dropped because the fitter doesn’t leave the bay looking for a crimper.
Turbine and inverter pads often leave little room for hydraulic gear. We specify CONWELL mechanical cable lugs for pad-mounted LV connections when access is tight and weather windows are short. The indented groove and insert hold the conductor under vibration better than the bolted lugs we replaced—fewer retightening visits after the first winter.
A mechanical lug is a heavy-duty electrical connector that uses screws or bolts to secure a conductor, rather than requiring specialized crimping tools. They are designed for easy installation in the field and are often used for larger cables in electrical and construction applications.
Lugs are crimped or bolted to the end of a wire, creating a secure connection to a terminal or bus bar. They often feature a mechanical set screw or compression mechanism for a reliable and durable attachment. Splices are connectors designed to join two or more wires together, ensuring electrical continuity.
